Receive an invitation to attend by email, with the date and time of an upcoming introductory workshop. You may choose to attend a workshop held on zoom or in person.

Submit your headshot and resume for review to our email

After attending the workshop, an invitation may be extended to attend ongoing classes. We take into consideration any conflicts you may have, and then you’ll be placed into the appropriate class day and time by the workshop instructor.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I enroll in a class?

This is how it works. You submit your picture and resume via email. Once we receive it, we’ll reach out to you with an Introductory Workshop date and how to secure your seat. Taking our Introductory Workshop is required before admittance into any of our ongoing classes. Ongoing classes are by invitation only.

Will I work every week?

Yes, the teacher will make sure that if for any reason you don’t get up one week, you'll be put on a list and you’ll get to work twice the following week.

What is your philosophy or approach?

Our philosophy is rooted in acting as the art of the empathetic imagination. Empathy is an act of imagination, a willing exchange of interpretive frameworks-an experience of imagined possibility. We don’t teach a technique- we teach people. There are innate abilities that need to be practiced daily. Most actors don’t know what to practice. The Imagined Life is a philosophy, with tools for practical application, and a daily creative practice. Your experiences mirror the story you’re telling yourself.
As you expand the possibilities of stories for yourSelves, through the experience of widening your empathetic embrace, your career reflects it.

What is the typical schedule for a class - how often and how long?

Our classes are ongoing scene study classes. Your class meets once a week for 5 hours. The classes are dynamic and time flies when you’re having fun- ask any student or watch/read our testimonials!

Are the classes different levels?

Our classes are mixed “levels” of experience to reflect the reality of the professional workplace.

How many people are typically in a class?

Between 14-36 people.

Do I find my own material to work on for the class?

No. The instructor gives you the material.

What materials do you use?

We work on scenes from all mediums and genres.

Do you rehearse outside of the class?

No. The philosophy, tools for practical application and classes are structured to support you within the reality of the film and television industry. If you’re working in the theatre, learning what to practice away from rehearsals is a vital skill. (As Ms. Julie Harris-6 time Tony Award winner taught Diana- “you create the climate”)

Are your acting classes in person or on zoom?

We offer classes and coaching in person as well as on zoom.

Can I audit to see if it’s the right fit for me?

No. Like the experience of empathy itself, the best way to find out if a class is the “right fit” is to take a walk in the shoes yourself. In the Introductory Workshop, you’ll get a hands-on working experience of what the ongoing classes are like.

If I miss a class what happens?

We cater to the working actor. We hope you’ve missed the class because you're on set. When you miss a class you can make it up.

Do you offer private coaching sessions, and if so, do I need to take the workshop and be a student first?

No. You do not need to take an Introductory Workshop or need to be a student at The Imagined Life studio in order to enjoy private coaching sessions for your auditions, ongoing or upcoming projects.

How do I know if
The Imagined Life
is the right place for me?

You won't until you experience it. You never really know a person until you've walked a mile in their shoes. Participate in a single class and find out. Join us for our next Imagined Life Introductory Workshop.
