Yaya was April Sexton, a former emergency department nurse at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center on NBC’s Chicago Med from 2015 to 2021. She did a crossover on Chicago P.D. from 2017-2019. Shortly after that, she departed from the Chicago Med universe due to landing a starring role on Fox’s Our Kind of People, as Angela Vaughn, a hair products entrepreneur.
