“Diana has changed my life. She has shown me how to find much more depth and beauty in my work and expanded my capacity for empathy as a human being. She truly goes above and beyond for her students and her passion for teaching is palpable. Her insights and intuition are nothing short of genius. Trust her!”
– Ben Larson
While attending USC, Ben Larson was a recipient of the Ruth and Albert McKinlay Award & Scholarship. His stage experiences there included roles in The Normal Heart, Carrie: The Musical, Breaking Barriers, Hit the Wall, and 12 Angry Jurors, along with a performance in Semi-Monde for the British American Drama Academy.
Post graduation, Larson originated the role of “Billy” in the world premiere of Roger Q. Mason’s Hide & Hide at the Skylight Theatre Company.
His work as a young Imagined Lifer has now prepared him for the world famous Geffen Playhouse and we’re proud to share that Ben is currently understudying as Hally in the upcoming production of “Master Harold”…And The Boys.
Since joining Diana’s class at The Imagined Life, Ben booked his first television guest starring role on NBC’s Chicago P.D. as Ellis Powell.
The first of many to come!
Many actors are sometimes intimidated by what they consider is a transition from theater to the screen. But Ben’s discipline and commitment to his Imagined Life® have transformed any doubts into vulnerable superpowers for playing.
By way of the daily creative practice he’s learned at The Imagined Life and his weekly acting Zoom class with Diana Castle, Ben is awakening to the power of the screen to amplify the thoughts and feelings within.
You can do so little and do so much in front of the magnifying power of the camera.
Through his weekly class as well as his daily practice, Ben is consistently working on script synthesis. He has learned a specific practice that works the muscles of innocence, vulnerability, accessibility, and his empathetic imagination. He’s challenging his heart to open and at the ready experience and share the myriad challenging stories that will most certainly come his way.
As his wise teacher, Diana Castle, imparts, “Fate is the cards you’re dealt. Destiny is how you play them.” There’s no doubt that Ben is playing them to the fullest.
Ben deepens the weekly lessons he learns in class by revisiting Diana’s teachings on Memberful.
One potent lecture alone reverberates with the following words – Your unspoken non-verbal life is never broken. Acting is an attention and awareness game. Acting is a non-verbal art form.”
As such, Ben is dedicated to excavating unspoken stories that speak volumes in front of the camera as well as on the stage.
When you burrow deep into the subterranean level of all that is human, you’re left with the imponderable, undeniable and unflinching facts of life.
Creating from this state of life connects you to every human being in past, current, and future existences. It’s powerful but more than that, storytellers of this kind are necessary to the survival of humanity. It’s how we feel seen. It’s how we pass the torch to one another.
Are you ready for your turn with the torch? Find what lights you up right here.
